There's no trick. If you search for a roundtrip itinerary, the website will return available fares in each class of service, and if the fare rules permit, will allow you to select different classes of service outbound and inbound.

Note, however, that many international fares have combinability restrictions which make it impossible to combine a cheap Y fare with a cheap J fare.
