Is there any way of booking a flight specifically for it to credit as an unknown fare, or is it only unforeseen circumstances which cannot be set up in advance?

If I book AA flight numbers on a published fare i.e. available at the same price on aa.com but I book through priceline, will it credit by dollar spend or distance?
