I did it 2 years ago without problem. There was some flight disruptions that night and The Wing didn't even close. However, there are some FTers who seem to report that things are getting more strict recently.
Not sure if it helps but I've had two very different experiences at HK.
Once one of my connecting flights at HK got rescheduled to early the next morning and I just waited for it at the Wing. Had no problem getting through transit security even though boarding pass had the new timings (around 3-4am I think).
Another time flight was delayed and we had to connect to a 7am flight. That one I had to go to the transit hotel
