I don't think this is an example of disorganization on US's part. Mechanicals are by their very nature disorganized.
They didn't have to put any of you on the delta flight if they did not want to. They could have said "Well its too late to get PAX over to DL, guess they have to spend their night here" Be thankful that they didn't, that would be poor organization. I think they went out of their way to get you home, be thankful.

The two hour delay, followed by the "well, we can get a few of you on this Delta flight, but they're already starting to board so you'll have to RUN" screw-up, just came across as very poorly-organized. At least I wasn't trying to connect somewhere, and hadn't checked any bags. I got home, albeit rather late, so the "only" thing it cost me was a decent night's sleep before going to work today. Other passengers didn't fare so well.
