I'm currently blue with only 50TP since most of my travel pattern with BA this year has been cash ET with a pile of CE and ET avios redemptions thrown in.

My TP collection year ends 8th Jan but I'm looking at 2 ex-GOT WTP trips to the USA, one in Dec and one in Feb. I don't really want the TPs from the December trip going onto my 2017 total since they will just be wasted.

I was wondering if it would be possible to use 'combine my avios' to move my stash to IB+ or Avios.com, cancel my BAEC account and then re-apply as a new member to reset my TP collection year and transfer my Avios back in?

If that works I could then have 400 TPs (possibly more once positioning flights for the Ex-GOT fares are considered) and make it to Bronze within the first 3 months of my collection year. It might even be feasible that I'd actually make it to silver for once.

Does this plan seem feasible or are BA likely to take a very dim view of this kind of behaviour?
