"Budget" Dining Advice - 7/17-19

We are coming to Chicago and bringing our appetites. We arrive Saturday morning (7/17) and leave Monday afternoon (7/19). This is our fourth visit in the last five years. I am just recently back to work, so we are eager to explore the less expensive cuisine opportunities. We are flying on a UA saver award and staying at a Priceline hotel.

We will just take what we can get on Saturday, as we will be sleeping off a redeye SAN-IAD-ORD, and seeing Eric Clapton at the United Center that night. Sunday and Monday are open, although we would like to do a boat ride on the rivers, and the Art Institute is mandatory, as always. We have only been to Chicago in the late fall and winter, so we are looking forward to a different experience.

Barbecue, pizza, Greek, hot dogs, Chinese, diners, any inexpensive suggestions are welcome. We are staying at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place and we are okay with any neighborhoods, will have transit passes, and know our way around the El.

We have always found Chicago to be a great city to be hungry in, but have usually been in a position to pay less attention to cost. We are looking forward to exploring other culinary aspects of one of the world's great food cities.
