Understanding Cap One My Rewards Visa rewards miles and miles calculations in use
Have to admit I'm an inexperienced dummy in using miles for flights. I have a Cap One My Rewards Visa card that says on their website, "You earn 1.25 miles per dollar on every purchase." On the face of it, that meant to me that if I spent $200, I would get 250 miles. But as I've discovered that's not the way it works; there's the multiplier of 100 that gets invoked. So a rt of 2200 miles becomes 22,000. Since a literal interpretation of a cash back offer is what happens with percentage back on purchases cards, e.g., 1% cash back on $100 in purchases gets $1 back, I'm wondering what is the justification for the difference with mileage? Thanks,
