This to me implies that LondonPhoenixUfc is correct, and you will earn at NZ rates on any flight to SFO as it doesn't make the distinction for the Air New Zealand operated flights based on marketing carrier that it does for United operated flights.
That's not my interpretation of what the Air NZ site says.

The OP didn't fly on a NZ flight number on a UA ticket. They (presumably) were ticketed UA6754 and flew on UA6754 which just happens to be NZ8 and then had their UA FPP set to their NZ # which entitles them to partner earn not NZ earn.
