I have BA flights booked on 16/23 Jan which will help me meet the requirement. Also, if not, the card is stated to not expire until Feb, so does that mean I can still have all the benefits of silver until the card expires in the event I don't get the extension?

While BAEC has not allowed the two week extension to be used to fly additional segments to retain (or qualify for a new) status based upon segments (for example, 50 segments for silver), there have been a number of reports of BAEC allowing the two week extension period to be used to fly the 4 eligible flights for someone qualifying for status based on tier points.
