This is a sad story.
CX has no liability.
It was a commercial gesture to offer another flight 4 days later to a no-show. Flights are quite full in October.
A train stoppage of several hours to the airport means that there must have been a few pax stranded. Maybe you should look in the Swiss Air forum (the most likely forum) what happened to other affected pax. But I cannot find any mention.
The only hope is travel insurance
