Husband has card with annual 10K bonus; does not spend on card unless gets a good bonus offer like "spend $500/mo for 3 months, get 15K bonus miles". In July called re: annual fee. Fee waived and also offered 5K miles for $1K spend in 90 days. Accepted both.

10/17/17 I have card w/o the anniversary bonus. Use card sporadically throughout year, and when traveling for unmanned kiosks for trains, tolls. Called re: fee waiver. Was rejected. Transferred to retention - told only way to waive fee is to downgrade to card w/o pin. I refused that. Offered 5K miles for $1K spend in 90 days. Accepted.
