Be WOWed!
Introduction WOW!This hotel has been a long time coming. But it has certainly been worth the wait. And boy am I happy I no longer live in Singapore - so this can now become my "home-away-from-home" when I return. If Accorhotels say that this property is being referenced as their Flagship property, I see a lot of good things coming for the Sofitel range of properties. I consider this now as one of the my top 3 hotels I have stayed at.Sure, it is still in soft-opening phase, and some things are not 100% - but they are 99% and the management makes sure that all feedback is acted on ASAP.The property currently has 5 floor open (of 14) and ~70 rooms are ready. Rooms are split into the Luxury Rooms (with varying amenities), the Prestige Suite (one on each floor) and a single Joaquim Suite. The Suites are not fully ready yet - I think 2 or 3 are. As such we were given a Luxury room. Check In I did not have any pre-arrival communication with the property. They didn't reach out in advance either, but they probably have a lot of things on their plate. We arrived at around 2pm on a Sunday and were welcomed as at all Sofitel with a "Bonjour!".The arrival hall is not very large and is staffed by the concierge team and a welcomer. A set of couches and three lift doors. Not much more.As there are not too many guests staying, they were correct in assuming who I was and asked if we would like to check in in the Club Millesime. OF COURSE!The reason why they ask is that the lobby is on nthe 5th floor. Of the three lifts, one also serves the 6th floor where the Club was. So we bypassed the lobby and were escorted to the very intimate Club Millesime. The Club is on the same floor as the pool. So you also have an outdoor "terrace" seating area for the exclusive use of Club guests.(As you see above).Breakfast, Afternoon Tea, Evening Canapes are served here as is common. They also pair their eveings with a wine tasting from their auto wine dispenser. What is unique here, and is in the process of being introduced is that they also have a "for pay" full menu. The explanation given by the GM is that from personal experinece, there is nothing worse than being alone in a foreign city and having nowhere to go for dinner. So after some canapes in the lounge, the guest then has the option after 7:30pm to order from this menu and have his dinner in the lounge paired with the drinks available there. In my opinion, perfect!(And now I have to check out. Sorry for the image rotation. Will try and get that fixed. More to come!)
