Are AS pilots too quick on the "Fasten Seatbelts" button?

I have been flying AS for the last 5 years and I hadn't cheated on AS by flying any other airline. Because of Isabel I was forced to take a United flight and I noticed that even with fairly noticeable turbulence the pilot did not have the "Fasten seatbelt" sign. I then remembered that even with a single bump the AS pilots "illuminate" the sign.
Is it me or are the AS pilots trigger happy when it comes to the "Fasten" sign?
