Where I find AirAsia to be great is random routes like Singapore to Krabi. Scoot (old Tiger) also does Singapore to Chiang Mai which is a nice one. I even like Thai, but it involves a connection in Bangkok almost always.

Singapore, Silk, Cathay Pacific, and Cathay Dragon are the absolute killers. If I was some Singapore or Hong Kong tycoon printing money I guess it wouldn't matter, but their elitist pricing is a joke.

I draw the line somewhere like with Indonesian AirAsia, but I have a lot of miles flown with the others mentioned here and I have no problem there.
Its a really good point. Most of my flights are New Zealand to Asia (esp. China) and there are many Chinese airlines that fly which are sometimes half the price of Air New Zealand or Cathay in business class

I can deal with the lower service (if its a flat bed ) but its the safety issue that concerns me.

This happened only a couple of months ago. The pilot communication was poor as was any english language feedback to the passengers. Quite similar in some ways, maybe not a life threatening situation but made (much?) worse by incompetence and poor communication.
