My next 1 way JFK-LHR redemption using AA miles on AA has charges of £4.20 which accounts for the present and long-standing situation where most TATL redemptions of that type are proving almost impossible to find.

At least BA do have much better availability on East Coast redemptions but there is clearly a high price to pay for that.
