There's having the cars, and then there's making them reservable. I could see a shortage of vehicles in a specific class at specific stations leading them to inhibit reservations for an indeterminate period.

I was offered a Challenger V-8 or a Camaro in Albuquerque a few weeks ago but as surcharges above my full size reservation.

You might find a rate bargain on specialty vehicles but don't expect it, whether sporty, a convertible, or a luxury SUV. Rate competition is fierce on midsize and full size but other vehicles are supposed to be a treat.
