Yield(and loads for J) for LAX J and PE cabin are garbage for both CI and BR.
Yield are lower in business class mostly due low C fares from TPE/Asia, buying a ticket in Taiwan and many other Asian national to US is quite a bit less than the other way (USA to Taiwan/Asia). This is a route I use sometimes via UA (ONT-SFO-TPE or SNA-SFO-TPE or last time BUR-SFO-TPE).
The problem at ONT is the terminal itself. Terminal two (which CI and UA uses now) is like a old mall where all the stores have closed down. There is small gift store, and café with Mexican food that costs quite a bit more for sub standard food. All the rest of the retail has closed down, and empty store fronts. There is no duty free or lounge. The new LAX has much more in services and is much improved. SNA and ONT are equal distance for me, and SNA airport services are much better but the problem is higher fares. This being said they can fix up the terminal , add services , shops and services and I hope they do!
