Have you tried to book a hotel on United.com lately? When you click on the hotel option, you are sent to another site operated by the "worldwide travel exchange". But you have to join them in order to use their service. And when you try to join, you get an error message that they are not accepting new members??????? So, you can't book a hotel.

This in itself is pretty poor planning on United's part. But to make matters worse, the top listed entry on the main UA.com site under "United news & deals" is about this new hotel booking service:

Worldwide hotel sale
Travel the world and save up to 50% on your hotel stay.

So not only is UA sending customers to a site that won't accept them, they are using up valuable advertising space to do this.
