if you have only carry on and second boarding pass AND your inbound is on time, it should be fine.
Depending on your flights, you might have to go through two security checks with long lines.
The biggest problem is a delay on the inbound - if you have a lengthy delay, you'll lose your second ticket and likely will have to buy a new one! therefore I'd not recommend doing it - buy a through ticket or spend a day in KL instead. I had a 3h delay on inbound once and had to race through the airport in 10min like a madman to catch my connection! So, even a 3h + connection might not be enough...
