However, I wonder if this is just a translation issue. I'm sometimes asked what company I work for or if I need to put a company (employer) name on the reservation. Could it have been "Do you need a company name on your reservation"?

Through a guest survey, the hotel manager sent me an email expressing his dismay that such a thing (offering an escort) could have taken place. He attributed the whole incident to a translation issue exactly like you described (requesting the company name on the invoice). I have no reason not to believe him but will take the whole shebang
