Derek Starnes, from Indiana, had rented a home in Longboat Key, Florida with his wife, New York Daily News reports.

Starnes told a local news broadcaster that he noticed a tiny black hole on the smoke detector in the master bedroom.

On inspection, Starnes said he discovered a small camera and microphone inside it.
