AA does fly a ton of flights into LHR, though, which WILL get hit with UK APD taxes to the tune of a hundred or two if you are departing from LHR.
(It doesn't apply to flying into LHR and you can fly into LHR/out of not-LHR on AA and avoid the taxes. I did this on an AS award, into LHR, out of ZRH...)
