Sounds like you purchased a lower pre-paid "non-refundable" rate, but for some reason the correct notes didn't get loaded into the rate details section. Most likely human error.
Is there a higher rate that doesn't have the non-refundable language?
I would consider the rate non-refundable, but if you needed to get out of it, you could probably fight with Marriott a bit.
