Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano, Egypt - Exemplary

Introduction We always visit Iskinderia when in Egypt and despite only have three days in Cairo we used a day and a half to take the Spanish train from Ramses Station to Sidi Gaber. All of our travel arrangements were performed by the FS Hotel at the First Residence in Cairo and the limo driver was waiting on the platform outside our carriage ready to whisk us to the hotel. Check In We were met by the duty manager and check in was swift. We were taken to our Sea View Suite of which there are only four. Room Despite the monstrous size of the San Stefano complex there are only 118 rooms as part of the hotel and only four Sea View Suites. Unfortunately they blocked a room looking towards Montazah and not the Citadel so we asked for a room move.It appeared none of the four suites had been booked for a while but within 20 mins the new room was prepared. Curiously, each room has a different theme colour. The first had Green decor while the second was a much nicer Royal Blue. The room consisted of a living room with dining table, bedroom, two balconies, a large bathroom and a second half bathroom. The website doesn't list that the room does have a sofa bed. The view is simply spectacular directly over the private beach and out over the Meditterean. The decor is lavish, upscale with a Euro theme but not garish. This continues throughout the hotel. Service The main advantage to the hotel is the private beach which is connected by an underground tunnel. Outside is a beach restaurant setup where you can eat, drink and smoke Sheesha. On the beach itself they have deckchairs and a number of beach staff and lifeguards. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool as well as a decent spa. Dining The breakfast at this hotel is spectular and outdoes the other FS hotels in Egypt.Chefs will make almost anything to order and the buffet is extensive. You could not want for anything that wasn't on offer. The restaurants all overlook the ocean. Location The location is spectacular, between the private beach and the pools and the room views you would never want to leave. It's a shame that the two bedroom suites are at the back of the hotel and have no view. The hotel is directly connected to the San Stefano mall that has some stores, not particuarly high end other than some jewellers and a food court on the ground floor. Overall Overall, this is the most luxurious and stunning hotel in Egypt and certainly the best FS. Service is impeccable, the rooms are beautiful furnished and amenities mean you don't have to leave the hotel.Of course all of this is reflected in the price points of the suites but it is certainly worth it.
