The airport system is organized by the list of flights operating that day (and the next couple days) and have lookups setup to find people by name that are travelling that day at that airport.
At the airport- the easiest is to know your flight number. IF you know your PNR - it actually won't help at the airport (in AC's current system).
Not only is this irrelevant, but it's not even true.
I may have posted about this incident, but I had a YYZ SE check-in agent adamantly state that I was not booked on 568 YVR-SFO one day. He kept proclaiming it, trying to get rid of me. I got angry. I gave him my booking reference. He went pale, apologized, and gave me my boarding pass.
So yes, it helps at the airport (in AC's current system).
That being said, I am 100% sure that AC employees can find your flights if they want to. And I'm not talking about the ones who work at the airport. They're usually the ones asking me when I'm flying next.
