Not needing to clear immigration both in Aus and NZ does not mean you don't need a visa. These countries may require a transit visa even for international to international connections.

Ask TG to thru check all the way to RAR if possible as NZ would be less willing to through check bags on separate tickets. If TG through checked them all the way to RAR, there is nothing NZ can do to stop it from going all the way.
