A variant on the OP's question...

Several times I've reserved a room with a bed and a sofa bed for self and offspring (generally because it's the only room type still available) I *always* contact the hotel in advance and very clearly request the sofa bed be made up before our arrival. About 50% of the time it has not been. From there I've had the front desk hand me the bedding or a housekeeper try to drop off the bedding. No, I'm not making up the bed I'm paying them to provide. I handed the linens back to the desk clerk (who ended up making the bed) and informed the housekeeper she needed to make the bed.

The worst part is maybe 1 of 3 times the sofa bed still has somebody else's dirty bedding on it. One was so disgusting I forced them to move us to another room.
