I had a prepaid booking for a FDAR category car in Munich this part

At the counter, I was offered an Audi A4 Wagon. Since I am not a fan of wagons, and no other car was available in that category, I decided to upgrade to the next category LDAR for 200 EUR extra. Was offered a Mercedes E220d sedan which I accepted.

When I went to the car, it was a complete stripped down model, i.e cloth seats, no sunroof, not even keyless entry. I expected better for a 'luxury' category.

A couple of cars down, I saw a E350d parked which had a panoramic sunroof, leather seats, bigger navigation screen, better everything basically.

I went back to ask if they can switch me to the E350d and I was told that it is not in the category I reserved and that it is in a 'special' category which I would have to pay extra for (on top of the money I paid to upgrade). Since I had already paid so much extra for an upgrade, I kept the car I was originally offered.

My question is: Was the rep correct in stating that the E350 is a higher category than the LDAR? I would assume that since it is the same car, it should be in the same category? Are all their cars in the LDAR category the same stripped down models?
