China Eastern (MU) - U Class on Domestic 777 services
Hi there,
First time flying MU, domestic flight from PEK-SHA on one of their 777 services with a 6-suite First Class cabin.
Buying F class seats you in the big 1-2-1 reverse herringbone Business Class cabin.
I asked my TA if he was able to get in touch with China Eastern to get me into one of the First Suites just to try it on the relatively short flight. Sure enough he had to upgrade me to U-Class and has seat selected 1L. I can't verify the seat selection online though (I trust myself more than TAs a lot of the time, so like to double check).
Anyway - my understanding with MU is that U-Class is the highest flexible economy fare, not First Class. Sure enough, the TA's automated confirmation now says 'Economy' but has me seated in 1L (First Class is rows 1-2, Business is huge starting at row 6).
Does anyone have experience here? Am I going to get bumped to Y? I tried to call MU's UK call centre (I'm based in London) but it just rings out if you select English...
The one thing I've noticed is that all the PEK-SHA/PVG flights show U0 on EF except the 777 services which show a maximum of U6 (which could correspond to the 6-seat First Class cabin)...
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
