I'm afraid as I life in Britain I just don't know either about the value of Chase points or whether when posted they qualify. Likewise I don't know whether the Platinum AMEX points transfer rate to Virgin is reasonable, but at the figures you're talking about if an AMEX point is worth 2.5c this transfer is (heartbreakingly) just worth it, if they're worth 1.5c then that's the same as the value of a Virgin mile and makes the transfer of 10,000VS miles to IHG - for the purposes of requalifying SPIRE and getting the extra 25,000 points only - good value...
