The closest hotels I can think of are the Charles Hotel and the Sheraton Commander. You can probably google for either of them. They are right in the heart of Harvard Square. If you're after a Residence Inn, there is one in Kendall Square about 2 mi away. Not exactly steps away from Harvard, but you can hop on the T (our subway) at Kendall/MIT about 2 blks from the Residence Inn, and it's less than a 10 minute ride to the Harvard Square stop. There's also a Marriott that's actually connected to the Kendall/MIT stop, but no kitchenettes there. Hope that helps.
