I watch my credit cards quite closely (maybe daily on the cards I am using) and I have never seen a hold last more than 3 business days post check-out. If a bank is holding for 2 weeks, I would call the bank and complain nicely (and angle in that I am owed bonus points for having to do that).

The hold amount though, must be what -- the charge of the stay plus some $200 a day? That is definitely the 'upper limit' as far as I know for a hold (though, if there is a place to push this upper limit, it would be a luxury hotel).
