I think the only difference between the mystery meat in the salad and the mystery meat in the hot dish is the temperature.

Responding to OP: Yes, I have been disappointed more often than not with D1 food. And I agree with others who have said that DL should try to go simpler and focus on dishes that work are more difficult to mess up--dishes that can handle over heating without drying out, etc.
