Although it doesn't seem to be the OP's reason, a number of people ended up with 2 accounts after the UA/CO merger - one from UA and a second from CO.

The rules officially state you can't have 2 accounts, but realistically there are valid reasons why you can, and UA isn't likely going to care as long as it's not obvious it was done to defraud them in any way.
