I'm wondering if there are any other better options out there to travel around or just stick with the bus and subway?
Thanks!
Keep in mind that the reloadable pay-per-ride MetroCard offers free transfers from subway to bus, bus to subway, and -- with a few exceptions -- bus to bus, all within approximately two hours of each initial swipe. So consider how many fares you would actually use during your four-day visit before deciding between the one-week unlimited, and the pay-per-ride versions. And if the three of you will always be traveling together, you can share a single pay-per-ride MetroCard. Just make sure that you understand how the free transfers work when multiple passengers use a single card.
For short trips within Manhattan with three people traveling together, a taxi might be a cost-effective alternative to the subway or bus.
