I called Avianca and they checked availability and said nothing is available. Nothing on the same day, nothing two following days. The flight is an award flight and with no award availability, there is nothing they can do.
That is absolutely false - they could ask AC to open up reward space on another flight, they could find you a different routing that did have reward space, they could purchase revenue space for you, etc - but this is really a matter for Avianca. You may want to consult the Avianca forum to find out how best to deal with them to achieve a better resolution to this.
But this should not be on you to cancel this or pay anything to re-book it..
