More like, it's not supposed to be bookable.
But if is was, it's not the passenger's fault. If he misses the connection the onus will be on the airlines to rebook him.
Sooner or later, the issue will get picked up and the parents will be rerouted. But, with a lot more hassle and potentially in lousy seats.
I would not be so sure about that. Sounds lke AC had a schedule change and the system automatically rebooked that way. My gues is, no one will ever notice. At least until check in.
At which point a decent gate agent will try fixing the issue and have them rebooked. Maybe.
MCT is a carrier's willingness to accept the risk of a misconnect, not whether a given individual on a given day could physically accomplish the task.
MCI is a rule carriers impose on their agents. Keyword being their. An internal matter with no bearing on customers. As such, sure it reflects the risk of misconnect. But so what?
By all means the OP should try have this rebooked. But if that does not happen, they will misconnect and get rebooked, what's the big deal? apart from being aware that their schedule is not reliable. Plenty of flights between YVR and YYZ. If they don't get the ticket changed, they should look at schedules and figure out which are the next flights.
