Refund on unused portion of an itinerary

Hello all does anyone have experience with how United calculates the refund on an unused potion of a flight? I have a refundable one way international flight with a stopover and I am at the stopover location, however due to a change in plans back home, I won't be able to fly the second leg. If I cancel will United reprice it as a one way from my original destination to my stopover and refund the difference if any or will they refund the cost of the second segment as it was priced on the website when I originally booked?
