People then question why the seatbelt sign wasn't on. If this were just about the individual, I would say that if you are foolish enough to stand up when it is dangerous, that is between you and your doctor. But, it isn't. It is about people who feel the need to stand up and open an OH so that they or something else becomes a projectile which injures others.
Foreign carriers seem to do just fine with judicious use of the seatbelt sign without having an inordinate number of injuries.
Turbulence injuries will never be eliminated, but they are statistically insignificant compared to other sources of risk in people's lives such as driving.
