I find security at train stations to be mostly a joke. Certainly not invasive.
If you think that immigration and security in the US is better than China it is because you are American. Foreigners are certainly better treated by Chinese immigration than US immigration. Not sure what mess you encountered at these two airports. It was always quite smooth for me.
