All the major carriers, AT&T, Verizon, Sorint, and T-Mobile, support WiFi calling. WiFi calling registers your phone to your carriers network over the internet and sends all cellular communications over the internet instead of to a tower.

When WiFi calling is not turned on T-Mobile works just like AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint when WiFi calling is not turned on.

There is nothing special about how T-Mobile works.
