Yes, it is not airport security rules, you can bring knives and such through as well, I believe. I think I might have brought back some cooking knives when coming back. Not quite sure of the range of things allowed by Eurostar and not airlines...
My bag got pulled at StP as I had packed a metal shoe horn in it, which looked like a flick knife on the x-ray. So I deduce that flick knives, at least, aren't permitted.
