I would ask why bother other than for onboard purchases? Buying a plane ticket usually isn't a super fast hurry up operation like buying candy at 7/11 is, which is where the speed of a contactless payment system makes sense.
I feel like there are far more useful things Alaska IT could be spending their time on.

VibeGuy said, I like Apple Pay more for the security than the speed. The separate credit card number that is tied to data inside the secure enclave on the particular device is much better than providing a string of numbers that the ecommerce site has to store in a way in which they can get at the numbers.
