BA controls the ticket until about 24 hours before departure. If it's on BA stock, BA can see the A fare and fare calculation while AA probably just sees the booking class Y. I'd start by checking whether AA has A class inventory (use EF or something similar) or (less good evidence) is selling A class tickets on the flight. If so, BA *should* be able to reissue your ticket so that it shows FC, A class. However, there might be married segment issues for the A inventory. If A isn't available, your fare rules (check them) probably say that it books into Y.

However, I'm just making an educated guess here. The BA forum should have people who have had experiences with A fares and especially this situation in the past. They can also tell you how willing BA is to make such changes and whether you should expect to pay a fee.
