Garuda changed the day of my flight. what now?
I booked LHR - MEL for December 10 arriving in Australia December 12 using Garuda's website. Economy.
GA087 & GA716
I received an e-mail this week telling me that the flight I booked has been cancelled and they have put me on a flight that leaves December 9 and arrives December 12.
I now I have to leave a day earlier than planned and spend 24-hours in Jakarta. This has turned a 27 hour journey into a 47 hour journey.
I have two questions, and have spoken to Garuda in Indonesia and London without any answer other than "We can offer a full refund to you without penalty."
First question is: Do I have any hope of getting them to put me on their codeshare flight via AMS on the 10th of December which has me connecting with my original flight arriving MEL on the 12th? (GA9237 & GA89) The call center operators say they don't have authority to book on codeshare.
The second question is, if I am really stuck with this 47 hour trip - is Garuda obligated to provide accommodation in Jakarta since it is because of their schedule change that I am there for 24 hours? The call center operators say that it is up to the manager working at Jakarta airport when I arrive.
