OP will be arriving in the B-gate regional jet hinterlands. If OP has particularly bad luck, his next gate will be in the low B range.
IAH mainline flights almost always leave from the middle-B gates closest to the UC entrances...gates 34-42ish. 5 mins jog/10 min walk from the farthest UX gates.
Unless the incoming flight is delayed, 40 min connection is more than enough time.
