AA sends me coupon things every year to give to those in AA who do an excellent job and I hand those out when appropriate. If I don't happen to have any on me I like to leave a feedback on AA.com and do so on a regular basis.
Those are sent to elite members, I believe, so probably doesn't help the OP who doesn't fly AA often.
Often I find the people I do hand those out to, while very appreciative, actually receive a lot of them, which I guess isn't that surprising. But shame it really doesn't seem to be a broader motivating factor for the FA base as a whole...
