why would u wait by the gate? at checkin u will have he new estimated departure time. And there are monitors in the IB lounge that will show the AA flight(s) and they do call them.
I've read many stories on here about how the actual departure time according to airport signs and the app/website don't align with reality, and then people show up to the gate to find their flight has already departed.
