My first trip to Manila was March 1986 around 2 weeks after Marcos fell - so a considerable amount of chaos!
No lounge access for me in the 80s and 90s, and no China airport experiences to make a comparison. No doubt there were were worse places!
When I again visited Manila in 1996 it was generally worse that my recollection of 10 years prior.
