Agreed, Don't Lose A Minute Of Sleep
First of all, I think it is very unlikely that US would be shutting down operations by Aug of 2004. Remember, the third summer quarter is the best one for airlines. Even if they did shut down, I am 99.99% sure that another airline would honor your tickets at least on standby. I am so sure you would not get stuck somewhere and be unable to fly, that if you were too get stuck somewhere and be in a situation where no airline would honor your ticket, I would be willing to personally buy you dinner for two at an expensive restaurant.
